You’ll taste at least three high-quality olive oils while uncovering the secrets and health benefits of this liquid gold! Learn when olive oil earns the title “extra virgin,” how to spot the finest quality, and whether it’s ideal for cooking and the best food pairing. All your questions—and more—will be answered during this tasty and easy-going experience. Combine the tasting with a delicious lunch or dinner to truly discover the magic of matching the perfect oils with the right dishes!
Your experience begins with a private pick-up from your hotel, accompanied by your guide, an official olive oil judge. You’ll head to the Castellón region, home to the world’s highest concentration of olive trees over 1,000 years old. Wander through the groves and admire the beauty of trees that have stood for over 1,500 years.
You’ll then visit a historic mill from 1606, where our guide will explain traditional olive oil production methods and explore a fascinating museum. In contrast, you’ll also visit a modern mill producing some of Spain’s finest olive oils, where you’ll learn about the techniques behind crafting high-quality oil today.
The tour concludes with an olive oil tasting at a nearby grove owned by the mill producer. The tasting leads into a relaxed picnic with wine—or a meal at a local restaurant if the weather requires so—featuring dishes that demonstrate how the right olive oil can enhance flavors, much like a perfectly paired wine!
