Huerta experience

5/5

During the Huerta Experience, we’ll hop on our bikes and immerse ourselves in rural life with the wind in our hair! Cycling along beautiful paths, we’ll pass traditional alquerías (farmhouses), vegetable gardens, and fields of artichokes and chufa (tiger nuts), the key ingredient in Valencia’s famous horchata.

We’ll make a short stop at a local horchatería to enjoy a refreshing horchata with fartons, a traditional Valencian pastry. Prefer coffee? You can also savor a cup with a slice of coca en llanda, a soft and delicious local cake.

Finally, we’ll arrive at an authentic local restaurant or, if available, a Valencian farm with a nearby barraca house for a showcooking experience. We’ll learn about rural Valencian life, countryside traditions, and typical local dishes—all while enjoying the tranquillity and flavors of Valencia’s unique gastronomy.

Itinerary

The Huerta Experience begins at 10:00 at our meeting point in the city. After picking up our bikes, we’ll ride through the historic center, making our way towards the old Turia riverbed—now a beautiful urban park. Crossing the river via the Viveros Park, we’ll head into Horta Nord, the northern stretch of Valencia’s farmland.

Once there, we’ll explore the local agricultural landscape, learning about seasonal products and traditional farming methods. A visit to a local horchatería awaits, where you’ll taste horchata, Valencia’s refreshing tiger nut drink, accompanied by fartons, the region’s typical sweet pastry. Prefer coffee? You can also enjoy a cup with coca en llanda, a delicious local cake.

We’ll then continue cycling through the fields to visit an authentic local restaurant renowned for crafting the best Paella Valenciana. Alternatively, if available, we may visit a traditional Valencian farm, where you’ll get an up-close look at farm life and see how paella is made—using chicken, rabbit, and other fresh ingredients. If possible, we’ll even take part in the cooking process and harvest some seasonal produce ourselves!

After a relaxing paella lunch, we’ll cycle to the picturesque harbor village of Port Sa Playa before concluding our journey with a ride through Valencia’s city center, stopping at a few highlights along the way. Finally, we’ll return our bikes near the meeting point, wrapping up an unforgettable day immersed in Valencian culture, cuisine, and countryside.
