During the Huerta experience, we will take our bikes and discover rural life with the wind in our hair! We will cross beautiful bike paths between the alquerías (farms), seeing typical vegetable gardens, artichokes and ‘chufa’ (earth almond) fields. We’ll make a short stop at a local craft beer brewery or horchatería, for a tasting!
Finally, we’ll arrive at an authentic Valencian farm, with a traditional ‘barraca’ house nearby to visit for a showcooking experience. We will learn about rural Valencian life, typical Valencian dishes from the countryside and enjoy the tranquillity & unique local gastronomy.
The Huerta experience will start at 10:00 at our meeting point in the city. After picking up our bikes, we will cross the old city centre towards the Turia river bed, which nowadays is a beautiful park. We will cross the river through the Viveros park towards the ‘Horta Nord’, the northern part of the rural Valencian fields for agriculture. Once there, we will learn about local and seasonal products and visit a small craft beer brewery or horchatería for a unique tasting.
Afterwards, we will continue through the fields to visit an authentic Valencian farm to have lunch. We will learn about the farmer’s life and see how the Paella Valenciana is made. With chicken and rabbit amongst other ingredients! If available, we can even participate in cooking the paella and harvesting seasonal ingredients. After a relaxing lunch, the experience will finish by visiting some highlights in the city center before returning the bikes to the rental shop near our meeting point.
